2023 BMW iX, Kia Stinger jolt this week’s new car reviews

We covered a spectrum of car choices this week, ranging from the BMW’s new electric crossover SUV that doubles as a tech showcase, to one of the most affordable and basic new cars on sale now, the Mitsubishi Mirage. They both have their merits and demerits, though not necessarily in equal number. Other highlights included revisiting the Kia Stinger performance sedan and tracking ever higher sticker prices for the 2023 model year.

2023 BMW iX xDrive50

2023 BMW iX review

The iX is anything but an electric version of BMW’s SUVs; it’s luxurious and spacious, very comfortable, and very quirky.

2023 Kia Stinger review

The 2023 Kia Stinger makes a great dance partner. The sport sedan’s good handling and ride quality, its comfortable cabin, and its reasonably low base price earns it a TCC Rating of 7.2 out of 10.

2023 Volvo XC40 review

Marrying avant-garde styling with a soothing, high-tech cabin, the 2023 Volvo XC40 is a bite-size SUV that does almost everything well. It has a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10.

2023 Volkswagen Arteon review

Volkswagen’s sleek flagship soldiers into 2013 with power and style—and a TCC Rating of 6.5 out of 10.

2023 Toyota Highlander preview

The three-row SUV swaps out its outdated V-6 for a 265-hp turbo-4 or a hybrid option.

2023 Volkswagen Taos review

It may be light on thrills, but the 2023 VW Taos delivers practical goods. Better crash-test scores would help elevate its score above 6.6 out of 10, though.

2023 Honda Ridgeline review

It may be due for a redesign, but the 2023 Honda Ridgeline still excels for its cargo and passenger-hauling ability. It’s a 6.2 out of 10.

2023 Mitsubishi Mirage review

Slow and chintzy, the 2023 Mitsu Mirage scores a TCC Rating of 3.8 out of 10.
