2024 Cadillac Celestiq EV arrives with a $300k price tag

Cadillac has unveiled its most expensive car yet, the 2024 Celestiq electric vehicle, which has a price tag that starts around $300,000.

If you liked the Celestiq concept that was unveiled this summer, then you’ll be happy with what you see here, since the production version is nearly identical. The biggest change is the mirrors. At 18 feet long, the Celestiq is about the same length as the Escalade, but its a sleek EV with a height that is lower than the Cadillac CT5. Overall the Celestiq features many of the styling cues as the Lyriq.

“Celesiq is the purest expression of Cadillac, acknowledging our incredible history and driving us to a bolder and brighter future,” said Global Vice President of Cadillac Rory Harvey. “It is a completely bespoke work of automotive art, built around the most advanced and innovative technology that we have ever engineered into an automobile.”

Underneath that striking sheetmetal, the Celestiq is based on GM’s Ultium EV platform, but it’s really one of a kind, since most of its parts aren’t shared with any other GM vehicle.

Inside the Celestiq’s cabin features a minimalistic design. The dashboard is dominated by two screens that measure 55 inches and stretch across it. The screens combine the instrument cluster, infotainment system and a separate system for the front passenger. The screens also have a pixel density that’s comparable to an 8K TV.

There are only four seats in the Celestiq, but each passenger gets the same heating and cooling functions. If you’re cold, there are air vents right behind the headrest that will blow warm air on you. Above each passenger the smart glass roof features “Suspended Particle Device” technology, which can change the tint each of the four quadrants from 1 percent to 20 percent. For audiophiles, there’s a 38-speaker AKG sound system.

The Celestiq is powered by a pair of electric motors that generate a combine 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque and all that power is sent to all four wheels. Cadillac estimates that the Celestiq can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and will have a 300 mile driving range. The 111 kWh battery pack can support DC fast charging at up to 200-kW.

On the safety front, the Celestiq is equipped to with all the necessary hardware to support GM’s Ultra Cruise hands-free technology.

The Celestiq won’t be a high volume EV, thanks to its $300k starting price.  Cadillac expects to build a limited number at GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. Production is slated to start in December 2023.
