Audi (+59.6%), Ford (+49.2%), Tesla (+95.1%) shine, market up 17.4%, Model Y #1 – Best Selling Cars Blog
Audi sales are up 59.6% year-on-year in Europe in November.

ACEA data has the European new car market (EU+EFTA+UK) up a very solid 17.4% year-on-year to 1,014,630 units as year-ago volumes were impacted by the microchip crisis. This still the second lowest November volume since 2014. The year-to-date total is now off -5.8% to 10,196,115 sales. Germany (+31.4%) fares best among the Top 5 markets, followed by the UK (+23.5%), Italy (+14.7%), Spain (+10.3%) and France (+9.8%). Other great performing markets include Latvia (+73.6%), Portugal (+39.4%), Iceland (+33.8%), Cyprus (+31.5%), Norway (+27.8%), Belgium (+23.4%) and Slovakia (+22.3%). At the other end of the scale, Ireland (-12.3%), Denmark (-12.2%) and Slovenia (-12.2%) struggle with double-digit losses.
The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in Europe for the 2nd time in the past 3 months.
In the groups ranking, the Volkswagen Group (+36.8%) soars ahead to compensate for microchip crisis devastated year-ago volumes but Stellantis (-3.7%), Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi (+4.5%), Hyundai-Kia (-3%) and the BMW Group (+14.9%) all underperform. The Toyota Group (+35.3%) shines but drops one spot on October to #6. Brand-wise, Volkswagen (+44.4%) is a distant first ahead of Toyota (+34.8%) and Audi (+59.6%) equally impressive. BMW (+15%) ensures the Top 4 is unchanged on October and advances to #3 year-to-date, overtaking Peugeot (-5.7%) in trouble this month. Ford (+49.2%) also vastly beats the market at #8 whereas Renault (-3.8%) skids. Skoda (+15.4%) and Dacia (+16.1%) round out the Top 10 while Tesla (+95.1%) is up to #15.
Over in the models ranking, the Tesla Model Y (+256.7%) scores its second ever win after last September, but its direct follower the Dacia Sandero (+15.5%) is only 388 sales below. The Model Y is now #22 year-to-date. The Toyota Yaris (+166.6%) and Fiat 500 (+38.6%) are both up one spot on October to #3 and #4 respectably while the YTD leader, the Peugeot 208 (-4%) is down four ranks to #5. The VW Golf (+120.7%) and Tiguan (+125.2%) both recover from year-ago volumes hampered by the microchip crisis while the Toyota Yaris Cross (+59.4%) scores its 2nd ever European Top 10 finish after last January at #9.
