Most affordable base variant on video

The Toyota Hyryder was launched a month ago, but pricing of a few variants were held back. Now though, Toyota has revealed prices of all the variants of the Hyryder Urban Cruiser, and here is a video that shows the compact SUV’s base E trim. Prices of the Toyota Hyryder Urban Cruiser base E trim start from Rs. 10.48 lakh, and the SUV directly rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Check out the video to see what Toyota offers in the most affordable trim of the Hyryder Urban Cruiser.

As the video indicates, the Toyota Hyryder is reasonably spec-ed even in the base variant. On the outside, the SUV gets body coloured wing mirrors but the LED projector headlamps have been swapped for halogen units. At the rear, the base trim of the Hyryder misses a camera but offers parking sensors. There’s no wiper for the rear windshield, which gets a defogger as standard. Many chromed bits that are available on higher trims have been deleted from the base variant. Also, the alloy wheels have been swapped out for 17 inch steel wheels, which will get a cover before customer deliveries.

On the inside, the base trim of the Toyota Hyryder gets fabric seats, a height adjustable driver’s seat, a basic infotainment system in the center console, twin airbags, rear AC vents, recline function for the rear seat and power windows. ABS and rear parking sensors are key safety features on the SUV, which has everything that a car buyer would need on a daily basis. The base trim of the Hyryder is offered with a single engine option: the 1.5 liter K15C petrol motor borrowed from Maruti Suzuki.

This engine is naturally aspirated and is offered in a four cylinder layout. It makes 102 Bhp of peak power and 137 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a mild hybrid unit that assists it during acceleration, thereby minimizing fuel consumption. The gearbox is a 5 speed unit that drives the front wheels. Higher trims of the Hyryder Urban Cruiser get an all wheel drive layout with the manual gearbox. The same engine is also available with a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox on higher trims.

The Hyryder Urban Cruiser is also available with a strong hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.5 liter TNGA petrol engine (91 Bhp-122 Nm) paired with an electric motor (78 Bhp-141 Nm). Combined outputs stand at 114 Bhp, and the strong hybrid’s biggest selling point is its fuel efficiency that close to 28 Kmpl. The strong hybrid drives the front wheels of the mid-sized SUV through a CVT automatic gearbox. There’s no manual gearbox offered with the strong hybrid. Another key feature of this powertrain is its all-electric mode through which the compact SUV can be driven solely on battery power for about 25 kilometers.

Toyota has begun delivering the Hyryder to customers across India. The SUV is built alongside its badge-engineered sibling – the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara – at Toyota’s Bidadi manufacturing facility near Bengaluru.
